Historical Background
Colegio de Calumpit Inc., the then Calumpit Institute, was founded on May 1947 by a group of 49 prominent intellectuals, civic minded citizens and educators who envisioned to put up a new kind of academic institution with only P 20,000 as initial capital stock. On October 17,1947, CCI, after its founding, was incorporated by some leading citizens of Calumpit. It started with seven members of the teaching staff including the Director, the late Major Francisco F. Del Rosario. With the ingenuity and brilliance of its founders, they were able to cater to 189 students from first to third year, renting the Makapugay residence, at the heart of Poblacion, for a start. In 1948, CCI finally had a building of its own although constructed on a rental land owned by the Roman Catholic Church. To acknowledge the demands to expand because of the continued rise of the population in the succeeding years, CCI had also negotiated with the church for the use of a sizable part of the patio where the stage and the basketball was located. CCI has evolved continuously through the years in response to the town’s clamor not only for high standards of accessible education but also for standards in deportment and discipline in general. Today CCI has transferred to its own spacious 2.1 hectare-lot located along Mac Arthur Highway, Iba O’Este,Calumpit, Bulacan. The new and elegant building was inaugurated on July 2, 2005. The institution boasts of its big and well-equipped buildings, huge and modern gymnasium, high tech laboratories; thus, is always the venue for many educational, civic, cultural, and social gatherings in the province of Bulacan. Determined to improve the mental capacity of each student to embody all the values learned, and to enhance the facets of his or her multiple intelligence, CCI has stood to its commitment of upholding the standards of scholarly inquiry and good reputation. CCI, at its best, is considered one of the top schools in Bulacan in terms of performance and competitions. As always, it pursues its goal of building a strong and morally upright society, producing a list of successful graduates in various fields. Indeed, CCI is a unique academic enterprise and the finest at that.
